Model Overview
The first to adopt Infiniti's new naming system, the Q50 replaces the G25 and G37 model. A complete new design, the Q50 does not disappoint in the looks department. It now has the signature Infiniti "double arch" grille, along with the horizontal headlights and taillights. The Q50 is also longer, wider and sits lower than the outgoing G. As for the interior, it now has the Infiniti's new InTouch system a touch screen which displays information and navigation. Owners will also be able to download, update and synch personal apps through their smartphones and USB drives. As per the new naming system, the numbers in model names don't designate the engine capacity any more. The same engine is carried over from the Infiniti G37 in the Q50, the 3.7-litre V6, which is mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission. However, there is a new entry-level engine, a Mercedes-sourced 4-cylinder 2.0-litre turbocharged unit which made its debut as a 2015 model year. The top model is the Q50 S Hybrid, with a 3.5-litre V6 boosted by an electric motor, and mated to a 7-speed automatic. Lot of new technologies have been added to improve driver safety. One of them, Active Lane Control, uses a camera-based straight-line stability system which is included as part of the Lane Departure Prevention system. The Lane Departure Prevention system makes small steering input angle adjustments if the car undergoes minor direction changes due to road surface changes or crosswinds. It also gets Direct Adaptive Steering system which allows independent control of the Q50's tire angle and steering inputs, transmitting the driver's intentions to the wheels faster than a mechanical system.
