An all-new generation Volvo XC90 debuted in the middle of 2015. Under the hood, there are two 2.0-litre 4-cylinder engine options, the base engine being the turbocharged T5 unit, while the more powerful model gets a turbocharged and supercharged T6 motor. Both engines are mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The base engine is called the T5 and and the more powerful motor is known as the T6. Available features, depending on trim, include integrated rear-door sunshades, illuminated front and rear treadplates, Bowers & Wilkins Premium 19-speaker audio system with USB/AUX inputs and CD player, Bluetooth, heads-up display, navigation, in-car wifi, 4-zone auto a/c with numerous rear vents, power-adjustable front seats, panoramic glass roof, power tailgate with foot-waving opening operation, front and rear parking sensors, smart keyless entry and start, turning LED headlights and foglights, and auto-dimming mirrors. Safety features include City Safety which brakes automatically if a pedestrian runs across the road, driver-alertness detection, blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alert, land-departure warning, road-sign detection that displays speed limits on the graphical LCD gauge cluster, whiplash protection, front and side/curtain airbags, and adaptive cruise control that can come to a complete stop and crawl in traffic automatically. Further safety features include a run-off road protection package, which detects what is happening and the front safety belts are tightened to keep the occupants in position, and auto brake at intersection capability.
