The Toyota RAV4 got a complete redesign for 2013, with a new styling language, a new drivetrain, and new features. In 2016, it got a facelift. The existing platform has been updated with new suspension tuning, while the standard engine now is a 2.5-litre 4-cylinder mated to a 6-speed automatic with manual-shift capability. There is also a choice of front-wheel-drive with limited-slip diff or all-wheel-drive with 50:50 lock mode. New items in this 5-seater crossover include a lift-up tailgate with the spare wheel now stored under the boot floor. In the UAE, there was a reshuffle of trims for 2016, with the 2WD available in EX and VX grade, while the AWD is sold in GXR and VXR grades. Standard features include power windows, electric mirrors, CD/MP3 stereo with USB/AUX ports and Bluetooth, fold-flat split rear seating and more. The base model gets cloth upholstery, manual a/c, basic keyless entry and 17-inch alloy wheels. Additional available features, depending on trim level, include smart keyless entry and start, LED headlights and running lamps, LED tail lamps, auto-dimming mirror, roof rails, cargo net, rear parking sensors, fog lamps, cruise control and dual-zone auto a/c. Also offered on higher-spec models are touchscreen navigation, DVD player, rear camera, power driver's seat, sunroof, leather upholstery and 18-inch alloy wheels. All RAV4 models get two front airbags as well as ABS with EBD, while higher-spec models get additional side and curtain airbags, stability control, brake assist, downhill assist, and hill-start assist.
